The Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is the definitive method for improving and removing eyelid bags which are formed after the age of forty, as well as the excess skin of the upper eyelids.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, so that the patient arrives at our center in the early hours of the morning and is discharged in the afternoon.
The day of the initial consultation, we proceed to make an anamnesis (medical history summary) to know about the patient’s background. Then, in front of the mirror, the detailed plan of the procedure and of the surgical options is made.
As with any procedure, laboratory tests, and cardiovascular and respiratory assessment. Also there is an exam made by the anesthesiologist, prior to the surgery, on which the patient is explained in detail, the most convenient type of anesthesia for her case. If the patient has hypertension, diabetes or from the thyroids, the patient must be controlled and must obtain the authorization from her doctor.
The blepharoplasty lasts 45 minutes, lidocaine is used as a local anesthetic. The comfort, as well as the safety is the most important, thus from when the patient is in his suite, we will administer an oral sedative, after which the anesthesiologist and the nurse will channel him and take him to the operating room.
The incisions in the eyelid surgery are imperceptible, they are not visible because they are placed exactly one millimeter below the eyelashes, in the lower eyelid, while in the upper eyelid a natural crease is made, so unless you tell someone that you have had your eyelids operated, no one will notice.
