Flaccid arms with intense skin excess over the inner and posterior regions can be corrected with brachioplasty (arm lifting), while an isolated adipose excess can be treated by only a liposuction of the posterior arm without skin resection.
Flaccidity is related to hereditary aspects, the natural aging process and/or intense weight loss, more and more often as a consequence from bariatric surgeries.
The surgery aims at reshaping the arm circumference, but, in many cases, a scar is left, extending from the armpit to the elbow through its inner aspect.
Careful assessment of each case is needed, in addition to the evaluation of the benefits of a better contour and of the resulting scar.
