Breast lift surgery, medically referred to as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that lifts and restores sagging breasts to a more youthful position. This procedure is also effective for reducing oversized areolas. Breast lift surgery is often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation to enhance the size, fullness, and firmness of the new breast shape.
he natural aging process, fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, and breastfeeding can cause the breasts to change over time and lose their youthful firmness, shape, and projection. Nathan Eberle, M.D., D.D.S., performs breast lift surgery to counteract these changes and restore firmness, height, and youthful contours to the breasts. Under Dr. Eberle’s guidance, the Weston Center for Plastic Surgery has become one of the top plastic surgery facilities among the women in Fort Lauderdale and Broward County who want to address these changes in their breasts with minimal scarring.
BREAST LIFT SURGERY WITH MINIMAL SCARRING
Traditional mastopexy is performed through vertical, horizontal, and/or circular incisions around the areola and across or underneath the breast mound, and the resultant scars are a major concern for most women. While all of these techniques can produce good results in the right surgeon’s hands, often in the United States Surgeons opt for a combination of a periareolar, vertical and transverse scar resulting in a boat anchor pattern on the breast. While this is effective, the scar burden is not to be taken lightly. Dr. Eberle prefers a vertical or circumvertical breast lift technique, which allows him to lift and firm the breast in the same manner as a traditional breast lift but with less than fifty-percent of the traditional scarring. This technique also produces less tension at the inferior aspect of the breast, an area typically fraught with wound breakdown, further minimizing scarring. Dr. Eberle has recently enhanced this technique with the insertion of an “internal bra”. This surgical mesh, which is frequently used throughout other areas of the body during various surgeries, has been shown to further elevate and support the new breast position without any additional incisions or subsequent scarring.
