A brow, frontal or upper third lift, reestablishes the original location of the upper face that has been affected through time.
This surgery may be accompanied by other surgical procedures such as face surgery, rhinoplasty or blepharoplasty.
Men and women that have drooping brows and that want to improve the harmony of their face are ideal candidates for this procedure. It is done in persons that do not want to use Botox.
If a brow lift is not desired, another alternative to soften fine expression lines in this area is CO2 laser resurfacing, even though it is not as effective as brow lift surgery.
There are two options for brow lift surgery: endoscopic and coronal. Endoscopic surgery is recommended for this procedure since scars along the head line are avoided and recovery time is faster with excellent results.
How is a Brow Lift surgery?
This procedure is carried out with local, general or block type anesthesia. The type of anesthesia is selected by the anesthesiologist and the patient One centimeter incisions are made on the scalp, through which the endoscope (small video camera) is placed. Then, the forehead tissues and muscles are repositioned and sutured in a higher position. This surgery is an outpatient procedure and takes approximately one hour.
How is the recovery after a Brow Lift surgery?
Recovery from endoscopic surgery is quick since the incisions are very small. When the procedure is finished, a bandage is placed on the forehead to minimize swelling. Occasionally, a drainage catheter may be used to avoid accumulation of fluids.
Results can be seen immediately despite the swelling that may occur. After 48 hours, the patient can do normal every day activities.
In the post-surgery appointment, recovery recommendations will be given and all the patient’s questions will be answered.
