Removal of the excess of the male breast.
Gynecomastia is the excessive growth of breasts in men, 40-60% of the male population is affected.
It refers to any condition that results in excessive development of breast tissue in men, such as obesity, anabolic (steroids), genetic defects, testicular tumors, and overactive thyroid.
The volume of the male breast is composed by a combination of ductal tissue (breast tissue) and an increase in adipocytes, which is typically referred to as fat tissue. In severe gynecomastia ptosis (drooping) of the breast is significantly observed.
It can be done in different ways by extracting the fat with cannulas (liposuction); in cases of moderate to severe an incision is made through the lower portion of the areola to extract the glandular tissue, with a liposuction.
