Service Description

Liposuction is the medical term used for a surgical procedure aimed at removing localized fat in certain body parts that do not respond to dietary or exercise and aims to model and return balance. Other terms that refer to the same procedure, differing in technical detail, include: liposuction, hidrolipo, Hollywood lipo, lipo light, vibrolipo, Vaser lipo and laser lipo. Most of these names are used for target markets, if there is any doubt regarding any specific procedure, ask your surgeon

Liposuction is a surgery performed with the aid of suction cannulas that are introduced into the body through small incisions to be determined and explained by the surgeon, always using the fewest possible and in inconspicuous locations to avoid stigma of surgery . Procedure time is 1 to 3 hours depending on the number of zones and the amount of fat to aspirate.

The main places where this technique can be used are :: submental (chin), arms, abdomen, waist, back, hips, inner region of the legs and knees.

It is important to note that liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. In the same way, not a treatment for cellulite or sagging and redundant skin that typically appears on the back, hips and buttocks. Liposuction can improve body contours in areas where the accumulation of fat is out of proportion and balance with the rest of the body.
Diet and exercise are an essential complement to the success of post-operative treatment.

The anesthesia used may be: regional (epidural) or General. Admission is usually one night. In the case of limited liposuction the patient can return home the same day.

Therefore, this surgery is best indicated for:

-Adult patients with localized fat and little or no sagging skin with good muscle tone.

-Healthy patients

-Next to the ideal weight for height and body type

-Non smokers

-Individuals with clear objectives and within the real possibilities of the procedure, including being aware of its limitations.

You will be asked to sign a consent form to ensure you understood everything explained by the doctor regarding the procedure to be done and are aware of the possible and potential complications. The most common complications of this surgery include: accumulation of fluid under the skin (seroma), painful areas, areas with lack of tenderness, swelling, infection, poor healing, thrombus formation, and anesthetic complications. After surgery you will wake up to healing dressings on the operated region and whose function is to make local compression.

The day of surgery you will be encouraged to get out of bed for short periods and wander around the room. While lying down, bend and stretch your feet, exercising the calfs at least 20 times every hour when awake. In the following days, it is recommended to wander around every two hours for about 10 to 15 minutes, to prevent thrombosis.

Care in relation to the surgical wound, such as changes of dressings, monitoring, and necessary prescriptions will be delivered by the surgeon. During the postoperative period, the strict use of acupressure bands or clothes for two months minimum (all day) is recommended. We advise lymphatic drainage massage, the surgeon will indicate when and how many sections are needed.

At first the sensation of edema (swelling), bruised regions of the operated area and discomfort are normal. The pain will be controlled with medication and should not be more than tolerable. If you have any questions regarding any of these symptoms, ask your surgeon.

You will be instructed to avoid physical exertion or heavy lifting for several weeks after the postoperative period. The return to normal activities will be gradual and according to the orientation of the surgeon. Some areas with lack of sensitivity and discreetly hardened in the operated region may occur and gradually improve in the months that follow.
