Breast implant colocation or prosthesis is used in cosmetic surgery to increase the breast size (known as breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty). There are two types of implants according to their filling material - saline and silicone, with many different shapes and textures available, however we strongly recommend the usage of silicone implants rather than saline one, because of the durability, their lifelong guarantee and better quality.
Implants are usually round, placed vertically and have the same width in both the upper and lower part, they can also be anatomical, drop-shaped, and wider at the base. The anatomies were designed to provide a more natural look since they simulate the shape of the non-operated breast in a way. Regarding texture, breast prostheses are smooth or rough.
There are different ways a breast surgery can be executed. It can be submammary, through an incision located in the submammary fold, or through areolar incision, located at the border of the areola-nipple complex and axillary way: the prosthesis is inserted through an incision located at the bottom of the axillary dome.
Both the introduction route and the prosthesis colocation depend on the assessment of each case, preferences and surgeon experience.
Estimated surgery time: 2 to 3 hours.
Estimated recovery time: 7 to 8 days.
