Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure in which mainly solve the aesthetic problems of the nose such as bone hump, which is the bone that protrudes from the back of the nose like a hump, deviations to the right or left of the entire nose and congenital malformations that are mostly seen in patients with sequelae of cleft lip and palate.
Currently Rhinoplasty seeks to return the patient's facial harmony that is to say an optimal result. Generally, causes the nose follow the structural features of the face. One of the main objectives of the surgeon is to produce noses that look like "non-operated".
Rhinoplasty takes one to two hours to be performed, though complicated procedures may take longer. During surgery, the skin of the nose is separated from the bone and cartilage structure, which is then sculpted into the desired shape. The nature of the new form that is given will depend on each particular problem and the surgical technique we use. Finally, we put back the skin on the new structure.
Rhinoplasty may be performed by incision inside the nose (Closed technique). It also could be done by an Open Technique in more complicated cases; this consists of a small incision in the columella, which is the vertical tissue that separates the nostrils. After the surgery a splint to help the nose maintain its new form will apply. We also may place nasal packs or soft plastic splints in your nostrils to stabilize the bridge, which is the wall that divides the airways.
Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and confidence in yourself, it will not necessarily change your appearance so it is an ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently.
Before deciding to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon. The best candidates for Rhinoplasty are people who want to improve their appearance but not perfect. If you're physically healthy, psychologically stable and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.
Age may also be a consideration. Many surgeons prefer not to operate on young people under the age of 16 until they have completed their development.
