What is Tummy Tuck?
The poor elasticity of the skin and dramatic weight loss results the flabby abdomen. Tummy tuck also known as abdominoplasty is a surgical operation that helps tightening and reshaping of the abdominal area. During the procedure, excess saggy skin and fat tissues are removed from the abdomen. Moreover, the connective tissues in abdomen are tightened with sutures as well. The remaining skin is then repositioned to create more toned look. Belly button is repositioned according to the overall proportions of body. There are 3 types of tummy tuck:
1) Mini Tummy Tuck: This treatment may be preferred by the patients who has pooch or loose skin or even stretch marks below the belly button. Surgeon will perform this procedure with a single incision on the pubic area. The aim will be to tighten the loose muscles and removing the excess skin to obtain a flat abdominal wall. There will be small, thin and horizontal line on the lower abdomen. However that scar will be barely visible, since dissolvable stitches will be preferred. Moreover, the scar will be located under the bikini line, so it won’t be visible with the swimsuits.
2) Standard Tummy Tuck: This treatment may be preferred by the patients who has pooch and loose skin above or around the belly button. Surgeon will perform this procedure with a single incision on pubic area. The aim will be to tighten the loose muscles and removing the excess skin to obtain a flat abdominal wall. The resulting scar looks similar to a mini-tummy tuck but it will be longer where will located from hip bone to other hip bone. However that scar will be located under the bikini line, so it won’t be visible with the swimsuits.
3) Extended Tummy Tuck: This treatment may be preferred by the patients who lost a lot of weight and now has excess, sagging skin hanging under the belly button. Surgeon will perform this procedure with a single incision on pubic area. Although it involves a longer incision, an extended tummy tuck removes more excess skin from both lower and upper abdomen, flanks and back. There will be a long scar comparing to the standard tummy tuck. However that scar will be barely visible since dissolvable stitches will be preferred. The resulting scar will be hidden by clothing, mostly located under the bikini line, so it won’t be visible with the swimsuits.
